Beware of Fraudulent Emails Claiming to be from NACHA

Several SMCU members have reported receiving emails, ostensibly from the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA), claiming that an electronic payment did not go through. The email includes an ACH transfer ID number and a link to click for details.

SMCU fraud analysts have determined that this email is a fraudulent attempt to collect confidential financial information. If you receive this email or one like it, do not click the link. If you have received the email and have disclosed your private financial information already, please contact SMCU as soon as possible to help limit the damage that might be done by the people responsible for the email.

SMCU will never request your personal information via email. If you question the legitimacy of any email that seems to come from SMCU or has to do with any SMCU transactions, call the Contact Center at 800-334-2489 or stop by any branch.

Additional information about this scam can be found at NACHA’s website.
