When SMCU sent out the word that we were looking for local non-profit groups as potential Feel Good Checking® partners, we got a response that far exceeded our expectations – over 100 nominations! SMCU reviewed each one of those suggestions and created a list of 12 finalists in 4 categories. The finalists went before a public vote to determine the winners. In each category, the organization that got the highest number of votes was named a new partner.
The winners are:
PAWS – an organization dedicated to the welfare of all kinds of animals. They work to place companion animals into good homes and provide medical assistance and rehabilitation for injured wildlife, so they can be returned to their natural habitats.
Nature Consortium – a community-based organization whose mission is to connect people, arts and nature, the Nature Consortium believes that by nurturing the connection between the natural and artistic worlds both will be enriched.
Seattle Tilth – dedicated to inspiring and educating people to garden organically and conserve natural resources, Seattle Title produces a host of programs to help the would-be urban farmer to optimize their space and get the most from their available resources.
Full Life Care – Full Life Care works with frail elders and those with chronic or terminal illnesses and disabilities to enhance their quality of life. They strive to provide those in their care with the means to maintain their independence and continue to find the joy in everyday life.
SMCU is excited to work with these wonderful organizations. They will join existing partners, Food Lifeline, Washington Business Week, and EASE as groups that will receive donations from the Feel Good Checking program beginning January 1, 2012.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Checking for Change campaign, by nominating organizations, voting or helping to spread the word.
