Michelle Purnell-Hepburn named PSBJ’s CFO of the Year

In a banquet room at Benaroya Hall last Thursday night the Puget Sound Business Journal announced the winners of its 2011 CFO of the Year Awards. Among them was Michelle Purnell-Hepburn, Senior Vice President and CFO of Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, who won the award in the Small Nonprofit Organization Category. The winners, including Michelle, are profiled in the March 11 issue of the PSBJ.

Michelle was recognized for her leadership as well as for her ability to make company financials relevant to every person in the credit union. By doing so, she has given each employee a personal stake in the financial performance of the organization. As a result, SMCU has been able to reduce expenses while increasing membership and revenue.

Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union has been able to maintain a strong and stable financial footprint during the economic upheaval of the last few years. That success is due in large part to the work Michelle puts in on a daily basis. She and her team ensure that the assets of SMCU members are managed in a way that minimizes risk while sustaining growth and expanding credit union services.

SMCU congratulates Michelle on this remarkable distinction.
