When are you going to release an official app for iPhone?

You are one of the only financial institutions with no app. This is 2013 and you need to get with the times.

    Thanks!

I loved the old logo. It was quintessentially Seattle. This one is anonymous as a logo without reading the text.

As a customer, I’d rather you spent the money on a workable mobile app for banking.

  4. Hector says:

Why is the old logo still on the 7 Principles site?

    • SMCU says:

      Hi Hector,

We have updated all the logos, so we think you might just need to refresh your browser settings. If you delete cookies and empty your cache, the new logo should show up. Please give us a call at 206-398-5500 if you’d like some help with browser settings.

I really liked the old logo it was unique, classy and modern. This new logo just looks to cookie cutter.

    • Julian says:

I agree with Rodrigo. On its own, I would never guess that the logo is an “S.” It looks more like tri-fold marketing pamphlet. There isn’t anything about the logo that relates to the city. The old one was so iconic and unique.

Dislike the new logo. Far too generic, while the old one was SEATTLE for SMCU. New one is ugly and too plain.

  7. Marilyn Ring-Nelson says:

Hope you didn’t spend a lot of money on this new logo because it is really dull and boring. I MUCH preferred the old logo! Please spend money on things that really matter to SMCU members.

  8. Linda says:

New logo immediately made me think of the Seattle Central Library building. I like it.

  9. Alex says:

It’s nice and modern, and I like the colors. Coloring the word “Metropolitan” is a little odd, though. That makes it look like you’re emphasizing it for some reason, as if that’s a special feature. “Oh, it’s a METROPOLITAN credit union! Sweet”

    Then there’s this:

“The new logo is a clean, memorable design that positions SMCU at the forefront of the Seattle financial marketplace.”

I don’t know, perhaps we’re overstating the impact of a logo just a bit? Love the marketing hyperbole. :-)

Anyhoo, overall I think it’s a fine change.

My first reaction was, “Where’s the Space Needle??” I love the old logo and hope you don’t remove the Space Needle from the ATM cards as well. My second reaction was, “I can’t believe they spent money on this,” which was quickly followed by “Who did they hire to convince them that this bland design was better than the Space Needle?” I appreciate the thought that went into the change; but, overall, I think it’s unfortunate. Long Live the Space Needle!!!

P.S., I wholeheartedly agree that a mobile app should have been a much higher priority than trying to bring the Space Needle down :(

  11. Judy says:

I don’t care for the new logo. It gives members no identity with Seattle ie:the Space Needle & WA skyline. That’s the only reason we continued to order new checks through the bank. I will no longer do that as now your logo is as generic as any other.

  12. Janet Skidmore says:

Sorry, I don’t like it. I never saw that the 3 rectangles that look like a section of a venetian blinds was an S. I am not opposed to change if it is an improvement which this isn’t. No connection to Seattle by making the type size larger without anything else.

  13. John says:

Oh dear. This new logo is bland and has no character. The old one was a mish-mash of northwest classic icons, of which I consider SMCU to be one. The typeface is…fine. But please revive the previous version.
