Protect Your Car and Your Wallet

Almost everyone has experienced the stress that unplanned car repairs can cause. Auto repairs are expensive, wreak havoc on your time and budget and leave you feeling anxious and confused.  While it may never be possible to prevent repairs from being necessary, you can make the repair process less frustrating and much less expensive by purchasing Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union’s Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP).

SMCU’s MBP pays for repairs that aren’t covered by the manufacturer’s original warranty. You don’t have to foot the bill for a $2,500 transmission replacement. You take the car to the licensed repair center of your choice anywhere in the U.S. or Canada and have them call the MBP service number. Once the repairs are authorized and completed, the MBP folks give the repair center their credit card to pay the bill. You get in your car and drive away, happy and relaxed.

Aside from repairs, MBP plans protect you when you’re on the road. When you run out of gas or lock your keys in the car, Roadside Assistance will dispatch someone to bring you more fuel or unlock your doors. If something in the road causes your tire to blow out, MBP will reimburse you the cost of repairing or replacing the tire, as well as tow you to the nearest tire shop.  If any of this happens more than 100 miles from your house, and you have to stay somewhere overnight, MBP will reimburse up to $75 per day for food and lodging for as many as three days.

You can get an MBP plan from your dealer or an independent company. However, when you compare those plans to what is available at your credit union, the choice of where to buy is clear.

SMCU MBP plans are often several hundred dollars less expensive than plans you can get other places and allow you to use any licensed repair shop in the U.S. or Canada. SMCU plans offer better terms in both mileage and duration and have lower deductibles.  MBP from SMCU is backed by a strong, stable insurer who has been administrating these plans since 1975, so you can rest assured they will be there when you need to make a claim.

Buying an SMCU MBP plan is easy. When you get an auto loan with SMCU, you can add any MBP premium to the balance of your loan. You can also purchase an SMCU MBP plans without a loan. In some cases, if you don’t make a claim or use any of the MBP services during its term, you can get a full refund of the original premium you paid.

The next time you have to fix your car, make sure you have the protection and peace of mind that comes with a Mechanical Breakdown Protection plan from SMCU.
