Get up to $50 for referring a new member

Cooperative Principle #3 says that the more you participate in your co-op, the more you should benefit. That is why we created the “Grow Your Co-op” Member Referral Program, to reward you for using SMCU and recommending us to your friends and family.

The more you use SMCU, the more your co-op rewards you.

For example:

*(any consumer loan except share-secured loans, including auto loans, VISA® credit cards, home equity loans, etc.)

¹A qualified referral is a new member who opens an SMCU checking account within 30 days of joining the credit union.

PLUS, you get $50 more if they get a loan

If the member you refer opens a loan or credit card within 30 days of opening their membership (excluding share-secured loans), you get an additional $50, whether or not they open a checking account. That means you could earn up to $100 per member.

For example:

If you have a checking account at SMCU and refer your dad, you get $20 for that referral. If your dad gets an auto loan within 30 days of becoming a member, you get another $50.

$20 + $50 = $70 for you!

If you have a first mortgage at SMCU and you refer your friend Kanani, you get $50 for that referral. If Kanani gets a credit card within 30 days of becoming a member, you get another $50.

$50 + $50 = $100 for you!

How does the program work?

When you talk to one of your friends and tell them about SMCU, give them a referral coupon to bring to the credit union with them. Once they open their new membership and a checking account, we’ll make a note in our system that they joined SMCU because of you.

At the end of each quarter, we’ll pay you a bonus, based on the SMCU products you have, for each new member you referred during that quarter. The bonus will be deposited directly into your savings account.

What do you have to do?

• Talk to your friends and family about all of the things you like about SMCU.
• Give them a referral coupon to bring in to one of our branches when they open their membership. If they want to open their new membership online, tell them to enter the promo code “REFER” on their online application. Once their membership is open, we will contact them to make sure we know who referred them.
• Watch for your deposit at the end of each quarter.
