SMCU gives nearly $6,000 to local non-profits through Feel Good Checking

Washington Cash

You may have seen one of our billboards or bus ads that say, “What if giving back meant getting more?” The answer to the question is embodied in our Feel Good Checking account. “Getting more” means a 7.71% APY on the first $500 in the account and free checks for life. “Giving back” is a $20 donation that SMCU makes to one of four local non-profits for every new Feel Good Checking account opened.

During the third quarter of 2008 our members opened 299 new Feel Good Checking accounts. Those accounts represent $5,980 of donations, split among Food Lifeline, FareStart, the Washington Community Alliance for Self-Help (CASH), and Southeast Youth & Family Services.

SMCU is proud to work with these agencies in making a difference in the Puget Sound, and we look forward to being able to donate even more in January. You can help by opening a Feel Good Checking today and encouraging your friends and family to do the same. Give more opportunities for these great agencies to continue their work; get a great rate for you. Giving back really does mean getting more.
