SMCU Launches New Website

Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union is proud to announce the rollout of a brand new website at www.smcu.com. Combining valuable input from our members and fellow employees, we have created a more user-friendly website with additional resources, new services, and a new visual design to help you access financial resources and account information more efficiently.  


Here are some new features we’ve added: 

  • Better Navigation – Drop-down menus and tabbed browsing to keep more information visible with fewer clicks.
  • Mobile Web and SMS Banking Access your SMCU accounts from your Mobile Phone with text messages or through our new mobile site.
  • Notifications – Set up automated emails to alert you when a check is cleared, when your balance goes below a certain amount, and more.
  • Scheduled & Recurring Transfers – Set up recurring transfers between your SMCU accounts.
  • Secure Email Support – Log into Online Banking and click the Secure Email link at the top to get helpful, secure emails from our Contact Center representatives. You can see a record of your past inquiries and get email alerts when your ticket has been updated.
  • New Support Center & FAQ – Access hundreds of helpful articles arranged by category and relevance. Submit your feedback or even request more articles.
  • Better Site Search – Find the page you’re with clearer, more relevant results.
  • New Branch & ATM Locator Service – Use the interactive map to find SMCU branches, shared branches and free ATMs. You can send addresses to your GPS device, your email or your phone via text.
  • New Calculators – Quick feedback to help you make important decisions about home loans, investments, credit cards, debt consolidation and more.

    All i want to do is access my account. Why is this so difficult to navigate this site from my mobile phone! So frustrating. If you were going to have this new site you shouldve allowed people to keep their very user friendly old login info. This has taken a good 20 minutes already and i still havent viewed my account.

    @Not happy: We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble logging in. Your login information has not changed, but you may have been asked to submit the answers to your challenge questions one time.

    If you are accessing the site from your mobile phone, we have good news for you. If you navigate to https://m.smcu.com, you will find a streamlined, user-friendly site just for mobile phone users. We’re glad to have you as a member and we have created that special site with you in mind.

    I am also having trouble with site I hope you can work things out soon. i have been a memver for over 25 years and have never gone through this much trouble just to access my account GOOD LUCK.

As with our last upgrade, our support team anticipated that some members might have issues and would need troubleshooting. To that end, your feedback is extremely valuable and appreciated.     I am trying to sign up for online banking – only there is no way to do this. I keep clicking on different links , only nothing is there to allow me to sign up – very frustrating.

    How do I access my online account? I’ve spent about 10 minutes looking for a place I can login. From my perspective, this is not very user friendly site so far.

    I love the new site! I not only find it very well designed, I also think it’s easier to use than the old one. I also bank with Wells Fargo, and I have to say that SMCU’s Online Banking is so much easier to navigate. It’s impressive that SMCU trumps such a larger financial institution. Well done.

    Online Banking: Logging in and Signing Up

    To log into your Online Banking, go to http://www.smcu.com and type your member number (or User ID) and password as you did before. The login area has moved down and to the left. The image below shows it’s location.

    Signing Up

    If you are logging in for the first time, you do not need to “sign up” for the service. Just log in with your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number or Tax ID. You will be prompted to change your password immediately.

    If you like, you can also request to use a “User ID” in place of your member number. Your User ID can be a word or combination of letters and numbers that is easier for you to remember. If you prefer to create a User ID instead of using your member number to log in: once you have logged into Online Banking, click the User Settings tab, then select Change User ID from the list of links.
