Take a Peek at Our New Website

SMCU is excited to announce that on October 4 we’ll be unveiling a brand new website. We’ve taken your input and some expert advice to make a site that is fast, appealing, and easy to use. You have probably noticed a new look and feel in our branches and brochures. This colorful update will be carried over to our new site, along with some helpful new features and easier navigation.

New Security Options.

If you’re ever locked out of Online Banking or forget your password or challenge questions, you can now register to have a temporary password sent to you via text or email. You can even request a temporary password be sent as an automated voice message. You will still have the option to answer pre-defined challenge questions as you do now. The first time you log in after the new site goes live, you’ll be asked if you want to set up any of these new convenient verification options. Once you set up your login security options, your Online Banking experience will remain exactly the same the next time you log in. However, if in the future you log in from a different computer, you will be asked to enter a one-time access code as an additional line of defense to prevent unauthorized access.

More Information. More Support.

The new website will have a brand new searchable Knowledge Base and a new way to send secure questions about your accounts to our knowledgeable Contact Center representatives. To send a secure email, log into your Online Banking account and click the Secure Email link at the top right. You will be notified when your ticket has been updated, and you can view history on all of your previous inquiries.

While we believe you will find the new Web site offers a greatly improved user experience, we invite your comments and suggestions if you discover any issues during the transition. Feel free to comment below or call our Contact Center at 206-398-5500. Please continue to recommend SMCU to your friends and family, as your participation in the credit union has made these exciting changes possible.

    Looks great you all!

  2. Justyn says:

Looks good! I like the interface and the colors are fantastic!

  3. Paul says:

I wonder if we’ll ever be able to see where authorizations are coming from before they clear. I had this feature available on my US Bank account years ago and I’ve never understood why it hasn’t been implemented here.

  4. Lizzie says:

Love it! Looks sleek and up to date! Finally! :)

  5. SMCU says:

This is a great recommendation, and a feature we’d love to have. We will keep exploring this with our vendors. In the meantime, any of our branch or Contact Center representatives can give you clear information about debit authorizations and pending transactions. Thank you for your suggestion.

  6. Veronica says:

What about being able to find out my balance through a text message? The phone system that SMCU has set up takes forever to get through to get my balance on the go and a simple text message feature would be so convenient.

  7. SMCU says:

We agree. Phone trees are so 2009. Mobile text banking and mobile web banking will be available when the new site goes live. We can hardly wait!

  8. Susan says:

Will the mobile banking be provided through an app for smart phones and a mobile site?

  9. SMCU says:

Our new Mobile Web service will be through a special mobile site, not a downloadable app. You will be able to visit the regular site with your smart phone, but the mobile site will allow you to check balances and perform transfers more quickly.

Look for an article about our new Mobile Banking services, appearing here on 7 Principles in the next few days.

  10. Kacie says:

    Love the fresh, clean look!

  11. Dan says:

I like the new direction SMCU is going. I recommend this credit union as often as I can. My branch I go to always calls me by name. I am not just another account number to them. It feels great. The site looks good and I am with Paul with his comment. I am more diligent at putting stuff in the checkbook than my wife is. I would like to see what’s going through so I can mark it down. Thank you for having a great credit union!

  12. Kjell says:

I like the new site, and the colors, and everything, but what really gets me excited is the mobile functionality. An android app is something I could use, if you can figure out the security, etc… This is a major step in the right direction though. Good work. You guys continue to kick butt and keep us happy.

  13. Jeanne Tate says:

This is a simple thing, but I would love a check box next to each expenditure so that as I am balancing my checking account I can easily see where I left off

  14. RC says:

I’m glad the new mobile interface will be through an optimized site rather than another blasted app. Enough apps already!

  15. G Bartley says:

Will paperless Visa statements be compatible with newer versions of Windows Internet Explorer? I had to go back to paper statements because they weren’t compatible. I could see only the first page, not the details.

  16. SMCU says:

This is the first we’ve heard of this issue. Please call our Contact Center at 206-398-5500 and we’ll try to troubleshoot this with you. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

  17. Ron C says:

Will the Visa site get redone? I liked to one at Wells Fargo. This one is hard for me to use.
